Jesus is Alive, and These Boys are Excited!

Our Wednesday morning group got together here today to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.

Liz was sick so Bobby brought Brady over.  All the boys got super excited to see Coach Bobby and got really wild.  We threatened to leave them with Coach Bobby.

When everyone arrived we went outside for an egg hunt.
They are special eggs called Resurrection Eggs that tell the story of Jesus.  I love them and we use them every Easter.
After we collected the eggs we put them in order and talked about each egg as we opened it.
I love watching all those boys' faces.  They are super into it.

We started with Jesus riding on a donkey and ended with the empty tomb.
I was surprised at how much they knew.
They were sad about the cross and thrilled about the empty "cave", as they called it.

We had 3 little girls today, all about the same age, and they were listening too!

After the eggs and story, we went into the kitchen.  Lindsay found a fun recipe for "Resurrection Buns" (funny name) that the kids could make.
They flattened out a biscuit and we put melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar on it.

Then we pretended a large marshmallow was Jesus.  We talked about how it was white and had no sin.

Then we wrapped the biscuit around the marshmallow like a sealed tomb.

We put it creased side down on a cookie sheet and put more butter, cinnamon, and sugar on top.

The kids went to play outside while they baked.

When we took them out of the oven and opened them up. It was empty!
The marshmallow was gone, just like Jesus was gone from the tomb!
Again, the boys got really excited!

I took a video of them telling the story.  It starts off great then at the very end Cole adds his own twist.  Something about Jesus being eaten by a dragon and dying again???  Weird.  Anyway, the camcorder shuts off before I get a chance to redirect him.  He's getting it though.  I love the enthusiasm of these little boys!
